My colleague Jess Lieu and I have each been sitting’ on a stack of Queer Dying workbooks created by our fellow mentor and colleague, Captain Snowdon. We have a shared desire to contemplate and explore it together in a group. The workbook is an accessible guide to planning a death full of care. A gorgeous “collection of embodied resourcing activities, conversation/writing prompts, experiments and questions of deep wonder” that follows the following arc:

January 5 | Waves– Feelings about death and dying

February 2 | Bones– Some practicalities of death and dying

March 2 | Wings– Communicating about death and dying

April 6 | Blooms– Offerings, remembrance and ritual

May 4 | Essence of my end of life desires– a letter to my death care solidarity crew

This will be an intimate circle of under 10 morbidly curious folks. Who knows when we will die and how… this is an invitation to be with the mystery, the care and what matters to us- at the end of life and today.

Logistics:

Starting the first week of January 2026.

Meeting the first Monday of the following 5 months to explore each chapter of the book together. Each session would be 90 minutes at Cafe Velour in Villeray, beginning with an embodied practice, followed by diving into the workbook, and sharing.

We’re asking for a PWYC investment that includes a copy of the book.

This event is available as a sliding scale. We suggest a donation between $125 – $245. The investment that makes this event sustainable for our costs is $185. This includes your personal copy of the Queer Dying workbook.

You’re welcome to either bring cash to the event, or, e-transfer your donation to: Jessicalieusomatics@gmail.com

If the up-front cost is a barrier we would be happy to arrange a payment plan.

Here is a link to the Queer Dying workbook in case you’d like to know more.
